About Children's Dentistry

Getting your child off to a great start at the dentist is really important, and that is what we focus on at Grange Road Dental. We create a calm, friendly environment where children can feel at ease and even have a bit of fun along the way.

Building positive associations with dental care early on makes a real difference for your child's long-term oral health. We never rush appointments. Instead, we let children explore the chair, ask questions, and get comfortable at their own pace. Our goal is for each visit to feel positive, so they grow up feeling confident about looking after their teeth.

During your child's visit, we check their teeth and gums gently, review tooth position to make sure everything is coming through correctly, and pick up any issues early. We communicate our findings to you in a clear, effective way so you understand your child's dental health and what, if anything, needs attention.

Our children's dental services include regular checkups and cleans, gentle fillings when needed, fissure sealants to help protect back teeth from decay, and advice on brushing, diet and habits like thumb sucking, tailored to your child's age and needs.

Visit us at Shop 5/92 Grange Rd Ipswich QLD 4305 or call (07) 3281 6666 to discuss whether children's dentistry is right for you.

I don't do reviews but I had to for everyone here. I have a fear of dentists, none of the staff knew that but the receptionist clocked it, she engaged with me and tried to elevate my fear, she expressed to the team I was very apprehensive and nervous. The team listened and everyone who was involved with my care went above and beyond. Everything was explained to me and I was given time, there was never any rush. On the day of my [...], which I had so much anxiety about, the receptionist remembered me, the team knew I was scared and they all made my experience calm and amazing. They walked me through what was happening and let me know it was OK to tell them at any point If I felt uncomfortable. As a person that is truly petrified of dentists, I can not thank this team enough.

I started going to Grange Rd dental after having a traumatic experience at another dentist and my husband convinced me to see his dentist (Dr Andrew). Dr Andrew was very kind and patient and gentle and I was so incredibly thankful to find such a good dentist. He has taken such good care of [...] for 15 years now and all my children see him too. I appreciate how he [...] for me (as I still sometimes get anxious) and does not rush things and explains what he is doing. His gentleness and ability to reduce my anxiety by making me as comfortable as possible is so appreciated by me. He is thorough and passionate about his work and cares for his patients. I highly recommend Dr Andrew and this surgery as all the other staff are also very caring and helpful.

Oh gosh so many positive things , right from walking in the door, always get a lovely greeting from the staff especially Emily but they are all amazing. The surgery is immaculate it has a beautiful ambience . Then Andrew ( Dr Andrew Zischke ) is next level caring, he could see how nervous I was so he was very gentle and never rushed, explaining what he was doing and what to expect , I could sense how passionate Andrew is about making sure every client leaves with a positive experience, [...] I cannot recommend Andrew enough, stop procrastinating and make your appointment today you will not regret it .

Children's Dentistry FAQs

When should I bring my child for their first dental visit?

Most dentists recommend bringing your child in for their first visit around their first birthday, or when their first teeth appear. Early visits help establish a positive relationship with dental care and allow us to monitor development from the start. To arrange your child's first visit at Grange Road Dental, call (07) 3281 6666.

How do you make dental visits comfortable for children at Grange Road Dental?

At Grange Road Dental in Ipswich, we never rush appointments. We let children explore the chair, ask questions and get comfortable at their own pace. Our team takes a gentle, patient approach so each visit feels like a positive experience.

Do you check how my child's teeth are coming through?

Yes. During each visit, we review tooth position to make sure everything is developing correctly. If we notice anything that needs attention, we explain our findings clearly and discuss any recommended next steps.

What are fissure sealants and does my child need them?

Fissure sealants are a thin protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth to help prevent decay. They are quick, comfortable and can be particularly beneficial for children whose back teeth have deep grooves. We will advise whether sealants are recommended for your child.

How can I prepare my child for a dental visit?

Keep it simple and positive. You might read a picture book about visiting the dentist, chat about what to expect in a relaxed way, or let them know it is just a quick look at their teeth. Avoid using words that might create worry, and feel free to ask our team for tips.
